HELPS Lexicon excerpt

Cognate: 602 apokálypsis – properly, uncovering (unveiling).  602/apokálypsis ("revelation, unveiling") is principally used of the revelation of Jesus Christ (the Word), especially a particular (spiritual) manifestation of Christ (His will) previously unknown to that extent (because "veiled, covered").  See601 (apokalýptō).
