HELPS Lexicon excerpt

1271 diánoia (from 1223/diá, "across, from side-to-side," which intensifies 3539/noiéō, "to use the mind" which is derived from 3563/noús, "mind") – properly, critical thinking that thinks through by moving side-to-side with an issue to reach balanced-conclusions; full-orbed reasoning (dialectical thinking), reaching "across to the other side" (of a matter) to discover God's middle ("radical balance").
